You do have an alternative! Follow what the Bible says, not creeds and traditions of men. Live by its divine standards. Make the Bible your one and only rule of faith and practice.
WHO ARE YOU LISTENING TO?

Are you listening? Who are you listening to?
A friend who is a doctor recently told me of a television program that was to him very enlightening. The program explained to him that something he had always accepted as true really was not. He was brought to realize that the expression “Separation of Church and State,” is not actually in the Constitution, as he had always believed. Many have come to accept this as truth because of hearing it repeatedly.

There are two schools of thought about lying. One school teaches that if you are caught in a lie, you lose credibility and no one will believe you in the future. The other school teaches that if your lie is big enough and repeated often enough, sooner or later, people will begin to believe you. It seems that the latter school convinces more than the other does.

It was Joseph Goebbles, Nazi propaganda chief, who said, "If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.” Vladimir Lenin said, "A lie told often enough becomes truth" Mark Twain said, “A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes.” You may have heard or read these quotes.

Goebbles used these truths in WWII to convince the nation of Germany to follow Hitler, Fascism and the Nazi party. Lenin used these truths to found what became the socialist Russian Communist party.

This technique is being used by some in the national media, and in political and appointed offices, to convince us of the political lies they want us to believe. One of them is that the Constitution requires the separation of Church and State.

Many who want us to believe this are not believers in God or believers that the Bible is God’s word. They teach this because they want freedom from the restraints of Biblical teaching. Many are believers of that lie because they do not know any better.

A quick reading of the First Amendment concerning what is said about Church and State will allow you to see that that wording is not there. It prohibits certain federal actions and guarantees certain individual liberties.

Bill of Rights – Amendment 1
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof ….

This clause prohibits Congress from making any law that establishes a national religion and prohibits the free exercise of religion. That’s all it does, because that is all that it says. It prohibits government-designated religion.

Those who do not like what this amendment says should as law abiding citizens accept and abide by what it says, and not try to make it say something that it does not say. It says nothing concerning any separation of Church and State.

We have been blessed by God to live in a country in which we are able to vote for those who represent us in government. We need to make sure that we don’t turn that blessing into a curse as the Biblical nation of Israel did their blessings.

It is expected that those who do not want to abide by the restrictions that God Himself places on us will work for a separation of Church and State. But it should also be expected that those who “say” they believe in God would work for the continuance of the freedoms that God--through our founding fathers--blessed us with, and especially the First Amendment.

It is strange to me that many who claim to be believers in God, do not work for the continuance of our freedoms. Instead, they continue to vote for those who are seeking a separation of Church and State and who want to eliminate all aspects of the Christian religion from the public arena. Surely there have been enough actions by Congress, decisions by the courts, and statements opposed to Christianity in general, for all to get the picture of what some in our country are trying to impose upon our nation.

I pray that none among the readers of this article will be those who pray asking God to bless our country but then go to the polls and vote for someone that will lead us away from Him. To do so, is to be responsible in part for any further actions that deprive us of our religious liberties, including the freedom to influence others for God.

Every godly person should keep himself or herself aware of what is happening in our country and knowledgeable of how Satan is using those who speak in deceitful words and act in deceitful ways to turn our country away from God.

Mark McWhorter wrote, “Are we to believe that we are to pray that our rulers rule according to God’s guidelines, but that we are to do nothing to encourage good candidates? Are we to believe that we are to pray for proper laws to be legislated but that we are to do nothing to encourage lawmakers to make those laws? Are we to believe that we are to be concerned enough to pray but not concerned enough to attempt personal influence?”

Let us all understand that if we vote for a candidate who seeks laws that allow immorality, or any matter that God calls sin, we are voting for that evil.

Let us understand that if we vote for a candidate who supports the denial of any religious freedom the constitution allows, we are voting for that evil.

Can we think that God approves our encouragement of such evil through politics? Who are you listening to? God--or those who want God separated from the public arena?

WHO ARE YOU LISTENING TO?

Are you listening? Who are you listening to?
As long as Adam and Eve listened to God and did what He said, everything was fine. One day Eve listened to Satan who appeared in the form of a serpent, instead of continuing to listen to God. Adam stood by and watched without protest as Eve, deceived by what the serpent said and overcome by her fleshly desires ate what God had said not to. Adam listened to Eve instead of to God. That brought sin into the world. Read the story in Genesis Chapter Three. Who are you listening to?

Cain and Abel were born. Abel listened to God. Cain listened to his own thoughts and God rejected his worship while Abel’s was accepted. Abel’s worship was accepted because he worshipped as God had instructed (Hebrews 11:4). Cain, infuriated at his younger brother being accepted, showed his anger at God. God counseled Cain, but Cain did not accept God’s counsel. Cain took his fury out on Abel and murdered him. One sin frequently leads to another sin. Read the story in Genesis Chapter Four. We must worship as God directs in the New Testament or He will reject our worship as He did Cain’s. Do you know what God has said about how we are to worship Him today? Is what you are being told and taught to practice what God has said--or what some mortal man says? Who are you listening to?

Many years passed and the human race increased in number and sin multiplied. Noah was born during a time of great sin. The multitudes were in sin because they did not listen to God. But Noah listened and found grace in the eyes of God.

God told Noah that he was to build an ark and told him how it was to be built. God would bring a flood upon the earth and cleanse it of all who were corrupted with sin. Sin corrupts. Not listening to God causes one to be corrupted by their sins.

But Noah listened and did what God said to do. Noah did all that God commanded him to do. The flood came and all were drowned in the flood except Noah, his wife, his three sons and their wives. Read the story in Genesis chapter 6-8. Read especially Genesis 6:22.

God will never destroy the earth by flood again, but the day is coming, when it--and the multitudes of sinners then living--will be destroyed by fire. Who are you listening to? Those who do not know God? Those who do not have the word of God but claim to preach His word? We go now to the time of Lot, Abram’s nephew. Lot chose to live in the very wicked and sinful area of Sodom and Gomorrah. The Lord sent angels to destroy it because of their sexual abominations. Abram pleaded with the Lord and the Lord agreed not to destroy the place if even ten righteous were found. But there were not even ten.

The angels took Lot, his wife and two daughters by the hand and hurried them out of the city. They were told, “Escape for your life! Do not look behind you nor stay anywhere in the plain.” As the sun rose, God rained brimstone and fire on Sodom and Gomorrah. In spite of the angel’s warning, Lot’s wife looked back on the burning cities and “she became a pillar of salt.”

In the days of Jesus, in speaking of the destruction of Jerusalem that was to come in A.D. 70, He warned, “Remember Lot’s wife.” When that time came, they were not to look back, but to flee for their lives (Luke 17:32).

Not even ten could be found in Sodom and Gomorrah that listened to God. And the sins of those sexually immoral people affected even Lot’s daughters. Read the story in Genesis 18 and 19. Who are you listening to? God--or the sinful in your world? If you are listening to the sinful in your world instead of to God, flee for your life, and don’t look back.

Are you failing to listen to God as Eve and then Adam did? Are you failing to listen to God as Cain did? Are you failing to listen to God as those in Noah’s day? Are you failing to listen to God as those in Abram’s day? Are you failing to listen to God, as even Lot’s wife and daughters did? If so, your fate will be as theirs unless you repent.

Jesus said, “He who has ears to hear let him hear” Mark 4:9. And again, “Take heed what you hear” Mark 4:24. And, “Take heed how you hear” Luke 8:18. Jesus is telling us that it is His words we must hear and that we must take heed how we hear so that we may understand--for it will be by His words that we will be judged on the last day (John 12:48).

Why listen to any other? If you hear from someone anything which adds to, takes from, changes, or contradicts God’s word do not listen a moment longer. When people do those things, they are no longer Christ’s church; rather it becomes man’s church. Denominational Churches are not branches or divisions of the church of Christ; they are divisions of man-made organizations. Independent or Interdenominational Churches are the same. Always compare what you hear with what God says. Study God’s word and learn what He says so that you may recognize when you hear something that is not the same as what God has said. If I can help you in any way, please call on me.

It is our aim to advance the cause of pure undenominational Christianity, the Christianity that Jesus died for; the Christianity the apostles established under the guidance and inspiration of the Holy Spirit. ~ A
